Dunkeld CathedralA9 North - go over the Tay Bridge into Dunkeld and park on the left in the Square. Dunkeld Cathedral (pictured left) - on the North Shore of the River Tay at Dunkeld. A fine Cathedral in super setting. Close by in the Square is the Lady Ann Gallery. During the summer months there is an Exhibition of Art in the Hall. The Hermitage - Across the river and back on the A9 you quickly come to The Hermitage on the left - a woodland walk and spectacular waterfalls. Ranger service and open all year

Go North on the A9 to Pitlochry. In the centre of the town - take a right - turn up the A924 Moulin - Braemar road. Travel 2 1/4 miles to Edradour Distillery (pictured below) - Scotland's Smallest

Back on the A9 North - Killiecrankie is 2 1/2 miles North of Pitlochry. The Jacobites defeated William III's Army here in 1689 - excellent Visitor Centre - worth a visit. North again for 3 1/2 miles - you come to Blair Atholl. The village was the setting for the TV series 'Strathblair'. Blair Castle (pictured below) is open until 6pm (last admissions 5pm)

Home of the late Duke of Atholl, it was the most visited privately owned home in Scotland and presents a stirring picture of Scottish life from the 16th Century to the present. (Now belongs to Scotland's Heritage).

Returning to Tophead, take the B867 just past Dunkeld to Bankfoot.
